ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Sunday kick-started a protest campaign calling for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation. PPP workers protested in Karachi, Larkana, Mithi, Badin and Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Kandhkot, Jacobabad, Nawabshah, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur and
other districts. Most of
the protests
were centered round load-shedding. The protesters also called for the PM’s resignation in the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s recent Panamagate decision. PPP information secretary Maula Bux Chandio assailed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as well as federal government ministers, especially Interior Minister Ch
audhry Nisar Ali Khan. “He has no moral reason to stay on
the position. H
e should instead resign rather than face further embarrassment,” he said. Chandio said that it made no sense why the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was celebrating the judgement. “Instead of distributing sweets, they should try to read the Panama case verdict clearly,” he said. He said that the verdict made it clear that the PM had lied to the nation. He reiterated that sooner or later
the prime minister would have to step down. “The PML-N has been the weapon of choice of every dictator,” he said, calling on
the premier to set an example and make for himself a name in history.
